Neil Neil Neil

I was born in 1950 in Blackheath, Southeast London in the same street as Jim Davidson, Fanny Craddock, and Sandie Shaw. I was in the Boys Brigade from the age of 8 until 25 years old.  I was an Officer, Drill Instructor and PE Instructor. I moved to the Medway  and ran a Boys Club and Sea Scouts group teaching canoeing.

My Career path took me at aged 15 working in Westminster for a firm of Parliamentary Agents & Solicitors to working for a funeral firm in Lewisham to Manager and then area manager for the Provident in Brixton to being a Security Guard for British Legion Security for Cable & Wireless to building and maintaining ponds with my best friend Peter Smith to retirement. I have battled through Covid now suffering with Longcovid and through pneumonia and renal failure and COPD but feel that the help and support that freemasonry has given me makes my life better.

My hobbies are gardening, films, cooking and holiday cruising on P & O ships.

I joined Masonry late in life in April 1996 due to heavy work commitments. Since then, I have never looked back. I have been Master of a craft lodge 6 times and in Chapter 7 times. I am currently Secretary of 2 Lodges as well as Charity Steward in Cinque Ports Lodge and Wellington Chapter.  I am also a Trustee and their Secretary of the Sandwich Masonic Centre Trust. I have a vast experience in administration and organisation. At 76 I am thoroughly enjoying my Masonry and have no intention of slowing down. Having lots of experience, knowledge and skills which enable me to help brethren, especially the new ones.  Over the years I have met all sorts of brethren and especially those who have helped to influence my life and my Masonic journey. I have shaped my Masonic career on many mentors too many to name and have made so many good friends along the way.

Recently I decided to join various small side degrees as well as already in the Mark and RAM and Acon degrees. I have joined

Athelstan, Allied, Royal and Select and Rose Croix all with fascinating histories.

Outside of Masonry I have brought my skills to the Dover District Council Tenants Consultative Group, and I have been their Chairman for the past 5 years. This is a voluntary role.
